Miscellaneous Press Cuttings and Other Bits             Darts Programmes             Award Pictures             World Record Holders             Darts People             St.Albans Ladies Darts League

I've been meaning to do this for some time - a few bits of personal darts memorabilia that I still have lying around. These will probably be of more interest to local people who were around and involved at that time. I hope some of the bits here bring back memories of happy times for you as they do for me! Most of the images, when clicked on, bring up larger versions in a new window so you can read the text or see more detail.

I first started playing darts for Cell Barnes Hospital social club at a young age - but was not allowed into pubs! First trophy was the Cell Barnes social club singles.
Teams played for in the local St. Albans league included: Batchwood 'B', White Lion, Rats Castle, Baton, Jolly Sailor, Swans, Garibaldi, Hunters, Crooked Billet
Played in teams for, and won, the following local darts leagues - as much as I can immediately remember - there are most certainly more! :
St.Albans: On several occasions, League, Fours, Team K.O. Also Pairs and Secretary's cup winner, Mixed Threes winner and Singles runner-up.
Potters Bar: League, Team K.O, Pairs
Borehamwood: League, Team K.O., Pairs runner-up
Watford: League, Team K.O.
Ware Independent League: All on several occasions: League, Team K.O., Singles, Pairs, Mixed Pairs, Fours, Eights, Team K.O., Handicap K.O. and Champion of Champions
Ware Summer League: On several occasions, Singles, Pairs, Sixes, League, Team K.O.
Ware Wednesday League: League, Team K.O., Fours
Harlow: League, Team K.O.
Sandridge: League, Team K.O., twice Singles winner, Pairs
Enfield Club League: Singles winner twice in three years, League, Team K.O.
East Herts Club League, League, Team K.O., Singles runner-up
Hertford Ladies League: Mixed Pairs winner
Herts Super League for London Colney, Verulam, Watford, Sandridge and County 'A' and 'B' teams for Hertfordshire. In Herts 'B' team that won promotion to first division.
Representative player for Hertfordshire Select vs Sweden
Also, many independent competitions including Herts Inter-League competition winners, Hertford area winner of both the News of the World and NDAGB national competitions.
Winner of the McMullens Singles for two consecutive years (lost in final the third year!) and McMullens Team K.O. Reached last 32 of the national Silver Jubilee Classic Threes in 1977.
Runners-up in the Napsbury Open pairs. Strangely, visiting relatives in Wales, I was allowed to enter the local area super league singles, losing in the semi-final. The presentation was by Eric Burden who I played in an exhibition game before the presentation. Best of 3x1001 - won 2-0, both legs less than 30 darts.
And... Guinness World Record Holders for 1,000,001 in 1978.

St.Albans Ladies Darts League

The St.Albans and District Ladies Darts League had made several unsuccessful attempts to get off the ground prior to about 1978 (unsure of exact year). Landlords Ray & Babs Crawley (Rats Castle) and Ken & Sylvia Adams (Jolly Sailor) agreed to sponsor a new league and I carried out all the administration. After two successful seasons it was handed over to the ladies to administrate and, as far as I know, has been running successfully ever since. Images are from the first ever presentation night at the Caledon Club, London Colney.
